Babak Shayan :: My Life

Babak Shayan :: My Life

Since his first release with "Dualists" on Plastic City in 2001, Babak Shayan is on a continuous release course in the deep Tech-House sector. As a member of "Soda Inc" and because of his well respected label "Shayan-Music", he becomes a firm size in the German Tech-House scene. Now, after countless releases on vinyl, more than 20 compilations and albums, Babak Shayan presents his debut soloalbum and his most personal work: "My life“. It's difficult to do Babak's music in a drawer. Between Tech-House tunes like "Snake in The Grass“ or "Flowers" the listener can find always some sounds with Iranian origin and roots. On tunes like "One In A million“ which was also part of the "Lima" compilation (Global Undergound by Nick Warren) but also on other tracks, oriental sounds (from sitar to ney) are to be perceived over and over again. An Interlude even shows a conversation on Iranian between Babak's friends."Azadi Nist" (translated in english: "no freedom“), fits topically too well to the political situation in Iran at the moment.

Babak dwell in Germany since his childhood although his whole family still lives in Iran. After studying maths he moved to Cologne and started as a self promoting musician. With "My Life" Babak Shayan shows his qualities as an artist of electronic dance scene, his obsession to music in all forms and colours as well as his feelings to his homeland.
