Billy Shane :: It Ain't Easy Being Sleazy

Brilliant Three Tracker from one of New York's Finest up and coming Deep House Cats. Cracking Hiro Mix too.

Tronicsole continues its upward assault on the world of house music. Billy Shane legendary Brooklyn based DJ, resident at the infamous Touch parties in NYC, releases a new EP following his massively well received debut set of tracks on Tronicsole. Be Strong has that bumpin' techy groove populated by the likes of Loco Dice whilst Dirty Mind and Among Us are of a deeper more sordid vibe hence the EP title. Hiro continues his production ascendancy with a straight but deadly deep house take of Be Strong.

Kaje feat. Sacha Williamson :: Butterflies
Well there isn't much to be said only that Sacha Williamson is blessed with an amazing voice, she proves it on this song, I remember when Kaje sent me the demo, I immediately loved it because it was original and different from most vocalist out in the deep house genre now, not to mention the bea ts and groove Kaje did to give this song the blessing it needed, so music lovers enjoy this full package of different mixes to this beautiful song, I'm pretty sure there is something for all of you.

Behind the decks for nineteen years now, producer and founder of Wicked Music since 2001, Jack de Marseille has moved back in his Marseilles based kingdom in 2006. Following a career initiated during the rave era then in clubs around the world, this homecoming allows him to play in small venues. The preparation of Inner Visions (Wicked Music/Modulor) his second album has been motivated by two closely related factors: Jack has definitely found pleasure in a closer relation with his audience and electronic music (he has been pioneered in France) is now getting down to the basics. This new opus is nurtured on gained experienced following prestigious collaborations with artists such as Audio Bullys, P.Diddy, Slow Train, Trisomie 21, The Advent, Anthony Rother… Furthermore, the permanent closure of Wax Records (1995- 2003) his own Record shop where he was importing the best house & techno records digging crates all around the world combined with the production of a mixed compilation 2Jack4U (2004) on which he associated dancefloor-oriented and down tempo sounds, all these elements have strengthened his wish to take up with Chicago and Detroit techno or Berlin dub again. Inner Visions is written like an inspired, melodic inner trip in which the artist tries to find his musical culture diversity and his dj sets dynamic again. Besides, this album offers several listening levels: very laid-back when played quiet, it displays dancefloor-oriented tones when you pump up the volume which confirms Jack de Marseille as a gifted producer.

Hi Gloss :: You'll Never Know

Hi-Gloss - You'll Never Know

Look what you have gone and done
You fool
The best was yet to come
What a childish game to play
You had it all
And threw it all away

You were not the first my love
Don't kid yourself
You sure won't be the last
You have just yourself to blame
A fool's a fool
By any other name

You'll never know you'll never know
You'll never know you'll never know
You'll never know
How close we came

Nothing but the best for you would do
My love was vintage wine
Now your just a memory
You've gone from me
Just so much wasted time
You can rest assured that I won't cry
Tears where never quite my style
I stopped crying long ago
With life erased forever from my mind

You'll never know you'll never know
You'll never know you'll never know
You'll never know You'll never know
You'll never know
How hard I tried

you'll never know you'll never know
you'll never know you'll never know
We could of had it all
You'll never know
How hard I tried

Your just a memory
You've gone from me

You have just yourself to blame
A fool's a fool
By any other name

You'll never know you'll never know
Oh what a foolish game to play
You'll never know you'll never know
you'll never know you'll never know
You had it all
And you threw it away

You'll never know you'll never know
You threw it all away
You'll never know you'll never know
You'll never know you'll never know
You never know how hard I tried

You'll never know you'll never know
You'll never know you'll never know
You'll never know you'll never know
You never know how hard I tried (how close we came)

You'll never know you'll never know
You'll never know you'll never know
You'll never know you'll never know

Following his "No Camera" release, Giannis Papaioannou is back with his new project. The ideal soundtrack of a love story that seems to reappear with the same intensity as that of the first time. "You & Me" begins exactly where Giannis Papaioannou’s previous project has left us. And if "No Camera" (KLIK Records, 2005) was described by national and international Press as «that kind of deep electronica no one expected to be born in Greece», then "You & Me" can only be referred to as the perfect sequel of a vision without frontiers. Giannis Papaioannou took the first steps of his lonesome endeavour back in the mid 80’s, already being an electronica pioneer at a time when electro music was still misidentified with disco and few were the ones bold enough to "listen" to it –let alone create it. At first with his reel to reel recorder, his analogue synthesizers and Brian Eno solely by his side, and then in full accord with anything significant that took place in the respective scenes of Berlin and Detroit. Always, though, under that unique conviction of a musician who is certain of the fact that there’s but one and single music and the only thing changing is the means creating it.

ION’s electronica is the sort of music one may hear (and see!) when closing their eyes while being amidst the noisy downtown centre of a metropolis; the sound of a never-ending summer; a grand sound-and-vision spectacle having no need of cinemascope views or clearly distinguishable musical instruments in order to be released as a whole different movie at the private theatre of those who can still dream on. What ION’s each new project expects from you is the inalienable human right of not having to explain.

Three years ago, "No Camera", the most ambitious project in ION’s year-long journey, proved the latter in the best way, by releasing a whole world through the inherent universe of a connoisseur and constantly restless musician a world created to denounce all sorts of compromise in what we all call today “electronica”. Thus managing to travel all the way from London to Tokyo and from Berlin to every well-informed music magazine on the planet and to be enthusiastically applauded as a return to timeless sound, proudly standing right next to the best moments of the European scene.

Moreover, "You & Me" lifts the "Greek electronica" case up to levels that can only be described as soon as one experiences the 14 tracks determining its own centre and circumference. With this recording in a seaside analogue studio, aided digitally by a Mac computer and the natural sounds of instruments and vocals, Giannis Papaioannou has constructed a timeless love story in reverse, setting off from the 18th century romanticism to reach the very essence of contemporary isolation. And without any trace of attitude, yet exceeding in soul testimony, he succeeds in turning into sound that sentiment of that first time: when you look somebody in the eyes and you realize –even if it’s only for a second– that you are not alone.

Ahmet Sisman :: Esraj EP

Ahmet Sisman :: Esraj  EP
Between Istanbul and Essen, Ahmet Sisman is moving through different worlds. Influenced by the mystique music of the Sufi-Culture, his sound has always something dark and powerful. Combining traditional elements in a unique and post-modern way; Ahmet has created his own style very quickly and it was just a matter of time that he gets his first appearances on several labels. The “multiculti” guy has made his debut on the French/Belgian Label Lessizmore beginning 2008 and finally after the Stock5 Release in June 2008 he got the attention of the big names in this scene. Like Sven Väth who played at this Summer his track “Buiya” on Cocoon Amnesia the whole season and finally licensed the African influenced tribal track for his next Mix Session “The Ninth Season”. So this is just the beginning and the upcoming releases are already planned on Lessizmore and Stock5. But more than this, the first steps of creating an own label with his friend Tim Querengaesser aka Pherox becomes reality and beginning 2009 “Slash” will be another focus for his sound.

Nic Fanciulli :: Yawn

Nic Fanciulli :: Yawn
From being a shy, talented DJ playing his trade as resident at his local club, to becoming a global superstar, the rise and rise of Nic Fanciulli has been well documented. He has graced countless covers of the most respected dance publications whilst his name repeatedly pops up when clubbers discuss the finest DJ talent in recent years. Nic joined the music world at 16, where he worked in the local record shop and DJ?d in the local bars, in his hometown of Maidstone, Kent. It was here that he earned his first proper break courtesy of the town's house institution ClubClass. Aged just twenty Nic became main room resident for the night he remains fully committed to. Nic?s ClubClass residency would form the launch pad for his future success.

Nic welcomed many legendary names to the night such as Deep Dish, Pete Tong, John Digweed and X-Press 2, all of whom were blown away his use of deep techy sounds, acid b-lines and dark melodic grooves. The residency also gave Nic the opportunity to play at different times of the night, allowing him to develop his own sound as well as develop a tremendous understanding of what is expected from a DJ.Fast forward to 2006 and Nic boasts a portfolio of residencies across the globe that is both testament to his talent and versatility. Starting in the USA, Nic previously held a quarterly resident at Space in Miami, undoubtedly one of the finest nightclubs on the planet. With one Space in the bag, another comes in the form of that legendary terrace in Ibiza for which Nic now plays nearly every Sunday in the summer. This resulted in the headline ?Terrace Kings? which Nic achieved alongside Paul Woolford on their DJ Magazine cover story in August 2006. He also held a residency at the magnificent Il Muretto in Venice and finally back to Britain, where Nic has been responsible for ClubClass developing from a provincial club event, to one of the UK?s finest and most influential house nights. ClubClass then went to the Ministry Of Sound in London, which has given Nic an excellent platform in which to showcase his music, as well as the opportunity to play alongside the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Rolando and Funk D? Void. March 2008 sees Nic starting a brand new night called Atomic at the esteemed club The End in London. Nic is in good company, The End?s has fellow resident holders include Laurent Garnier and Sven Vath.

Nic's production and remix work alongside Andy Chatterley, under Skylark and its bastard son Buick Project, has proved fundamental in pushing him through as both an artist and DJ. Essential new tune status is a regular occurrence for Nic?s productions and he has been called upon to remix a plethora of acts including Underworld, Tiefschwarz, Unkle, Kylie and Deep Dish. Critical acclaim doesn?t get much better than a Grammy nomination and exactly what they got in 2007 when Buick Project was nominated for their remix of Tracey Thorn/Tiefschwarz track ?Damage?. Add this to successful releases for Renaissance and it?s clear that Nic enjoys a very busy studio schedule. Working with Renaissance has now become common place for Nic after he followed the likes of Sasha, Digweed and Deep Dish, by releasing a compilation on their legendary series in 2005. The mix received huge props from journalists and clubbers alike, was backed by a thirty date world tour and sold thousands worldwide. Another string to Nic?s impeccable bow comes in the form of Saved Records which launched in October 2004. Widely regarded as one of the leading cutting edge labels on the scene, Saved has gone on to release compositions from both established producers such as Zoo Brazil, Paolo Mojo and Audiofly, to up and coming talent such as James Talk and Shafunkers, with remixes being delivered from the likes of Alex Smoke and Paul Woolford.

There is such an untapped pool of talent across the world at the moment that I want to help the new kids coming through get the recognition their music rightly deserves says Nic. 2007 saw Nic join forces with James Zabiela for their One+One alliance, causing something of a press frenzy they toured across the globe, made some original productions in the form of ?No Pressure? and ?Rover? and released a double CD. Wasting no time Nic then went back in the studio with Skylark partner Andy and the result was their first artist album; ?I-Panik? was released in November of 2007 with a full remix package coming in Spring 2008. The likes of Laurent Garnier praised the album and the press were blown away ? citing it as an intelligent piece of electronica. The remix package sees contributions from acts as diverse as Joris Voorn, Funk Dvoid, Joel Mull, and many others. With a list of achievements that already overshadows many DJs ten years his senior, its clear that Nic Fanciulli has proven how combining genuine talent with dedication can go a long way. And whilst his record label, residencies, productions and compilations continue to open the ears of thousands of people across the planet, the fact he has a whole host of future projects up his sleeve reveals the best is still to come?
