Zoe Xenia :: Let The Music Play
Today we are treated, once again, to another release that has the Bass Culture unique freshness. This time its the turn of Dutch producer Zoe Xenia. Taking influence from one of the Shannon’s classic, ‘Let The Music Play’ takes on a groove filled, trip-tastic journey. Zoe’s vocals are smooth as silk, and whilst never overbearing, bonds the tracks’ jazzy drums, keys and bassline together like glue. The first of our remixes today comes from one of Detroits finest talents… Anonym. Showcasing those skills to perfection, he adds a wonderfully funky, disco b-line, yet also keeps the tracks’ laid back and groove-some. Rounding out the vinyl release is the stunning Damian Schwartz Dub of ‘Let The Music Play’. This is big room stuff, with dramatic synth stabs, open hats, and repetitive vocal sample. All giving it a real hypnotic feel. As a treat, D’Julz also gives us the two ‘digital only’ tracks. The bass heavy, warped tribal tech of ‘Aint No’ and the stripped down, spookily delightful Damian Schwartz Remix.

Tomoki Tamura :: The Rough
UK based Japanese producer Tomoki Tamura (of Tomoki & Nono) kicks off a warped robotic synth banger, “The Rough.” A repetitive zapped instrumental with just the right amount of floor-power, its not too overbearing and goodfor any hour, and Tropical/Surf/Jazz producer Moodymanc smoothes out the rough edges.

Genetix ft shanchoy :: Sunrise 2010
“Sunrise”, with vocals by Shanchoy, is one of the finest songs ever produced by Gene King (Genetix). Four years after the original version, its time to bring back the sun with fresh reinterpretations by DaSouL & Fabry Diglio, Ronnie Ron and the BBB Camp from South Africa: C.9ine, Nastee Nev and Liquideep. Special word to DaSouL & Fabry Diglio for their exquisite remix with dope beats, fat bassline, atmospheric pads, jazzy keys by Dave Esposito and a stunning sax solo by Rocco Dimaiolo.

Rocket Empire :: Rocket Empire
Hailing from Portland, OR, Rocket Empire is the next wave of Om’s midtempo chilled out roster. Think early Thievery Corporation mixed with Boozoo Bajou and you’re getting close to the vibe. Their track ‘Montezuma’s Revenge’ is the #1 most played track on SIRIUS ‘Chill’

Rezkar :: Above The Clouds
Floating deeper house music backed with a handful of remixes from John Daly. Rezkar's original pushes the right buttons with luxuriant synth arrangements, while Daly provides 4 alternate remixes largely inspired by Larry Heard with sensual basslines, shuffled Chicago rhythms and slow-burning euphorics.

Nina Kraviz :: Pain In The Ass
B-side "I'm Gonna Get You" demands it: The lyrics are raunchy, and Kraviz herself says that "sex is very important to the type of image that you create." Here, though, she seems to be taking the piss out of it all, adopting the role of the male in the situation. Despite the sleight of hand, there's a bit of a problem: On a purely musical level, the song is far weaker than its predecessor. It's a dreamy house tune that threatens to float away when Kraviz's voice turns to proper singing. As most could divine from "Voices," the girl isn't trained, something she used there and elsewhere to her advantage. On "I'm Gonna Get You," though, things fall a bit flat. Stick with the flip on this one.
